CLEVELAND DAVID WATSON

Cleveland David Watson, (90), was the oldest son of the late Cleveland Roosevelt and Alice Fisher Watson. He was born May 7th, 1931 in Hallwood VA. He was predeceased in death by his parents, two sons, Lorenzo and Rozelle and the love of his life for 64 years, Elder Evoria Watson. Deacon Watson was educated and lived on the Eastern Shore all of his life. Along with other jobs, Deacon Watson was also a farmer with his father and an employee at Holly Farms (now Tysons). His goal was to be a good provider for his family which he accomplished. Deacon Watson gave his life to Christ at an early age and was a member in good standing with St Joseph Holiness Church from the leadership of Bishop Joseph Turner, to Bishop Elton Brown and finally Pastor Marlene P. Brown, before her demise. At the church he served in many positions such as Youth president, van driver, treasurer and maintenance man. Everyone at the church always knew they could call Deacon Watson.

The children always called him "My Daddy" and my daddy was available to anyone and everyone. He was a great father, brother, son, Uncle David, cousin David, Pop-Pop, friend, good neighbor and last but certainly not least he was "Sugg".

Deacon Watson, or Mr. David as some called him, was loved by all. Many people in the community and especially on Chincoteague just loved Mr. Watson. Because he was kind and generous to all.

Dad's favorite foods were peas, string beans, sweet potato pie and bread pudding; his favorite sport to watch on TV was baseball; his favorite scripture was Psalms 23; and his favorite songs were "Jesus on the mainline tell Him what you Want and Joy to the World" and he always enjoyed Dining at the Sage Diner Restaurant.

The truth is Deacon Watson was a very patient and loving person and he will be missed by all. He leaves to cherish his memories: four children, Elder Kenneth Watson, David Watson (Laverne), Elder Alice Faulk, Prophetess Faultine Rodgers (Apostle Gary), four brothers; Adolph (Madelyn) James, Ronald and Bobby (Darlene), 17 grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
