CLINTON JAMES WHARTON

Clinton James Wharton was born on February 27, 1932 in Assawoman, Virginia to the late Isaac and Clentia Elizabeth Watson Wharton. He departed this life on June 24, 2022 after a brief illness. He received an education in the public schools of Accomack County, VA. At an early age he attended Saint Joseph’s Holiness Church. He also attended Saint John’s Methodist Church in Atlantic, Virginia. He started working at an early age working to help support his family. Later, he worked at Campbell Soup in Salisbury, Maryland and Buddy Boy’s Poultry Plant.

Clinton enjoyed fishing, watching baseball and Gunsmoke.

Clinton was preceded in death by wife Ruth Stewart Wharton and son, Stephen Wharton; daughter-in-law, Larna Wharton; sisters, Mattie, Sareh and Alice; brothers, Matthew, Nathanial, Thomas, Daniel, and Luther Wharton.

Clinton departed his life surrounded by friends and caregivers, Lisa Villareal and Donnie Smith.

Left to cherish fond memories brother Jerome (Jane) Wharton of Berlin, Maryland; one sister-in-law, Dolly Wharton of New Church, Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews; godchildren, Katelyn Vanhart, Isaiah Vanhart, Timoth Vanhart and special friends, Toby and Ovie Williams, Wayne Marshall, etc.
