LAWRENCE E. CORBIN

Lawrence Edward Corbin, known to friends and family as “Big Boy”, was the second son of four children born to the late Thomas and Elisha Corbin on December 2, 1938 in Miona, VA. He departed this life on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at the Shore Health Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, VA.

As a young son, he joined the Mt. Zion Independent Methodist church in Withams, VA and received his formal education in the Accomack County Public Schools and later graduated. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted and began his career in the United States Army as he faithfully served his country.

“Big Boy”, as he was known, was united in Holy Matrimony to Nadine Godwin on July 23, 1960 and together they shared a marriage of love and devotion with an esteemed friendship for 30 years until she passed away.

“Big Boy” was employed for a number of years as a supervisor with the Campbell Soup Company in Pocomoke City, MD. He had an unconditional love for his family as a son, brother, father and husband. As a result of his love, Lawrence and Pauline Hall decided to start the “Drummond Family Reunion” with a goal to reunite the family. Later, he desired his passion and trade as construction worker and a landscaper and worked until his health failed.

Lawrence leaves to cherish loving memories: one son, Elmer (Sheena) Corbin of Bloxom, VA; one daughter: Jannah “Jackie” Abdul-Qadir of Seattle, WA; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; one brother: Charlie (Gladys) Corbin of Parksley, VA; one sister: Laura Ann (Elwood) Collins of Pocomoke City, MD, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, oldest brother (Henry, Sr), one nephew (Henry, Jr) and one great-granddaughter.
