SALLY ELIZABETH YOUNG

SALLIE ELIZABETH YOUNG, the daughter of the late Lafayette Wise and Victoria Custis Wise, was born on June 24, 1923 in Onancock, Virginia. She departed this life on August 20, 2014 at Riverside Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, Virginia after a short illness.

Sallie received her education in the public schools of Accomack County. She mostly worked at the store she owned called “The Shop” and provided Child Care Services. Sallie lived at 13 Watson Street for more than seventy years and you could say she was the Welcome Center of “Around the Line”, because she was so friendly and loved to talk. Her home was the place where all the out of town family would love to hang out. She always kept her door open to greet people that walked by and kept an eye on the children that were playing outside.

Sallie was preceded in death by her husband, William Young and sister Elnora Wing.

Sallie leaves to cherish her memories: two sisters, Dorothy Mae Bailey (Lincoln, DE) and Mary Ann Bailey (North Carolina), God daughters, Sarah Bell Wise (Melfa, VA) and Gladys Wise (Samuel) (Melfa, VA), God son, Glen Northam, Special sister-in-law, Marion Drummand (her live in cousin), Gladys Herring’s sister-in-laws, Brother-in-laws, special nephews, Vincent Sr. and Andre Wilson, niece Andreal Reed, great nephew Vincent, Jr, Best friend/cousin, Catherine Northam and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins. Dear cousins and other friends that cared for her are Catherine Rogers, Herman Matthews, Theresa Kellam, Polly and Michael Parker.
