HENRY DOUGLAS BLAKE

HENRY DOUGLAS BLAKE, affectionately known as “Hennyboy”, was the son of the late Henry and Annie Mae Strand, departed his life on Monday, December 16, 2013 in Nassawadox, VA.

On June 25, 1975, he was united in Holy matrimony to Vandelia Beatrice Bailey. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lavonne Fayrene Smith and brothers Emmanuel and Alvin Strand.

Henry was educated in the Accomack County Public Schools. He started work as a laborer in his early teens to provide for his mother and siblings. Later in life he went on to work for Perdue Farms, Byrds Foods and Eastern Shore Seafood in Mappsville before he retired and his health began to fail.

Henry was a one of a kind person. He loved watching sports on TV, listening to music and enjoying life in his own special way.

He leaves to cherish precious memories: wife of 38 years, Vandelia Blake, 2 daughters, Helena Blake of Onancock, VA and Tanya Smith of Tasley, VA; nine grandchildren, Jamar, Jermaine, Alisha, Anthony, Tyreim, Jenaya, Tony, Jr., Nazere and Zymir; 2 great-grandchildren, Jamar, Jr. and Jermerria; two brothers, Theopolus Strand of New Castle, DE and Eugene Strand of Accomac, VA; one sister, Ella Mae Harmon of Onancock, VA; one son-in-law, Tony Smith of Tasley, VA; three brother-in-laws; Henry Bailey of Baltimore, MD, Ronda Bailey of Onancock and Welton Bailey of Savageville, VA, one sister-in-law Shelia Bailey of Onancock, VA; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
