MARTIN LUTHER GODWIN

Martin Luther Godwin, son of the late Abraham and Louise Godwin, was born on October 28, 1944 in Horsey, VA. He departed this life on March 4, 2021 at Shore Health and Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, VA.

He was educated in the public schools of Accomack County and at the age of 18 he moved to Trenton, NJ where he worked various jobs until he retired.

On August 27, 1977, he married Arlene and they spent 34 beautiful years together. Though they never had children of their own, they were surrogate parents and grandparents to their nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Arlene, three brothers, Earnest, James and David and four sisters, Catherine, Doretha, Venera and Lillie.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his lovely sisters, Larue Godwin of Oak Hall, VA, Dordean Schoolfield and Karen Bowen, both of Pocomoke City, MD; his brother, Edward Godwin of Oak Hall, VA; sisters-in-law, Lizzie Mae Brown and Diane Ferguson, both of Leesburg, FL; brother-in-law, Raymond Turner; close friend, Andrew Dickerson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
