RUTH IRENE SINCLAIR

Ruth was born to proud parents Jerry and Rachel Greene on February 17, 1931 in Wilmington, North Carolina. She was the youngest of nine children, which included seven boys and two girls.

She received Christ at a young age and joined First Baptist Church in Scotts Hill, North Carolina. She attended elementary school in Wilmington and graduated from Williston Industrial High School in 1947. As a youngster, she was gifted and blessed with a passion for music and taught herself to play the piano. As a result, she served as pianist for several churches in North Carolina and Virginia.

In 1955, she met and married Rev. Albert Cooper Sinclair, Sr (A.C). As a minister’s wife, she worked beside her husband and participated in numerous church functions and organizations, including The Eastern Star. Her faith in God allowed her to continue to play during church services, even though she was ill.

Ruth was smart, witty and a stylish dresser who loved clothes, but hats were her specialty. She wore them well and with grace. She always had a hat, shoes and a bag to match each outfit. She was a lady of style and great humor.

She is preceded in death by her son (Douglas H. Sinclair), seven brothers and one sister. She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Rev. Albert Cooper Sinclair, Sr; two sons, Jerry Greene (Trudy) and Albert C. Sinclair, Jr. (Laurie); one daughter, Deborah L. Sinclair and one adopted daughter, Mary Pinkard; seven grandchildren, Derrick Greene; Keith Greene (Janella); Chris Greene (Ashley); Calbert Sinclair (Jessica); Albert Sinclair, III (Erica); Cheroyal Reid (Corey) and Deshawn Sinclair; sixteen great-grandchildren; two nieces, Doris Greene and Elizabeth Martin; one nephew, Wyoming Greene, two grand nieces, one god-daughter and a host of other relatives and friends who cherished her.
