JOSEPH J. COPES

JOSEPH J. COPES was the son of the late Ella Matthews and Jesse Copes. He was born September 22, 1913 in Mappsville, VA. In the early morning, Saturday, June 9, 2012, he was called to his eternal home at the age of ninety-eight. He resided in Pocomoke City, MD where he loved to do lawn care. For many years he attended MT. Zion United Methodist Church where he loved to praise the Lord and fellowship with his church family. He attended there until his health failed him. His daily motto was that “If he could help someone as he journeyed through this land, then his living has not been in vain”. Joseph was well known and was loved by many as he journeyed daily to and from riding his bicycle (he loved that bicycle) (smile). Uncle Joseph will be deeply missed, but never forgotten for he touched many lives as he passed this way. Joseph leaves to cherish fond memories, a devoted niece and caregiver, Mildred Beckett and Lola Pitts, a host of other nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Randolph, Preston, Cameron and Job; sisters: Ella, Catherine, Doretha Stevenson, Eva Duncan and Lola Bailey.
