DEBBIE LYNN CROWSON

Debbie Lynn Crowson, born December 23, 1947 in Nassawaddox, VA, entered eternal rest on November 23, 2021, peacefully slipping away just 10 days after her mother. Debbie was the daughter of Pastor Alverta Dix, Delmas Beckett, and the bonus daughter of Deacon Wilbert Dix. Although her health was challenged for the last several years, she maintained her personality and would greet you with a smile and an "I love you." Debbie received her education in the public schools of Accomack County and graduated from Mary n. Smith. She also attended Norfolk State College. She was employed as an educational assistant in Accomack County before joining Roses Departmeart Store as Inventory Manager. She joined Roses at the opening of the first Eastern Shore store and continued to work for over 30 years until her health prevented her from continuing. She married the love of her life, William Richard Crowson, and was saddened by his early death.

Debbie accepted Christ at an early age. She joined Mt. Zion Holy Church and served faithfully under Bishop Helen O. Gillis and her mother and pastor, Elder Blanch Dix. Debbie was instrumental in the implementation of the Church Anniversary and Pastoral Anniversary. Whenever Pastor Dix had to minister and/or participate in a service, Debbie was there. Even in the midst of her health challenges, she continued to praise and worship God. Through it all, she trusted God and held onto His unchanging hand.

Debbie was a lady of many gifts, talents, and interests. Her style was vivid, elegant, and lavish. She enjoyed travelling, spending time with family and friends, and watching and participating in drag races. She loved race cars and was even known to issue a challenge to a race. Debbie was a devotedd daughter, cousin, and friend and will be missed. Debbie leaves cherished memories with her father, Delmas Beckett (Cleo), NY; one aunt, Margaret Poole, Salisbury, MD; two brothers, George (Linda) Ames, Onancock, VA and Michael Beckett (Mary); one sister, Carole Beckett-Washington (Dwight); devoted cousins, Wayne (Alphine), Kelvin (Carolyn), Chester Pettit, III (Eileen), Parksley, VA, Rodney (Rhonda), Leesburg GA, Colette Pettit Douglas, Onancock, VA, Sharone (Frederick) Grant, Snow Hill, MD, Thalia (Lee) White, Lawrenceville, GA, and Robin Pettit, Kissimmee, FL; god sister, Marilyn Williams, Fairview, VA; and a host of nieces, relatives, and friends.

In addition to her mother, bonus father, and husband, she was preceded in death by one aunt, Luellen Pettit; grandparents, Chauncey and Maggie Fletcher; and special cousins, Robert Pettit, Robert Leander "Lee" Pettit, Breon Fitzhugh, and Steven Pettit.
