BETTY HOLDEN DAVIS

Mrs. Betty Holden Davis peacefully transitioned from labor to reward in her home on September 20, 2021.

Betty Blue, as she was affectionately referred to, was born on February 21, 1945 to the late Sarah Johnson Holden and Wesley Holden in Horsey, VA. She was formally educated through Accomack County Public Schools and continued her education at the Norfolk State University in Norfolk, VA where she obtained a Bachelors of Arts with a concentration in Sociology. She then secured a Masters of Education from the University of New York. Betty served tirelessly as a public school educator in Brooklyn, NY for over 20 years. Following her retirement, she returned home to care for her father.

Betty was an active and faithful member of the United House of Prayer in Salisbury, MD until the onset of her illness. Upon her return home, she resumed her membership at St. John’s Methodist under the Pastoral leadership of Reverend Gary C. Miller.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Lee Davis; her parents, Sarah and Wesley Holden; her sister, Mary Holden Tindley (Andrew Tindley) and her brother Wayne Holden.

She is survived by her one and only son, Orlando Coleman; grandson, Orlando Coleman, Jr; great-grandson, Kyng Coleman; aunt, Eva Holden; sister Sharon Black (Ralph); brother, Gary Holden; sister-in-laws, Margie Davis, Doretha Moore, Hattie Mae Keeling, Shirley Nash, Betty Jean Keeling and Mary Britt; brother-in-laws, Andrew Tindley, Robert Davis, Johnnie Davis and James Davis. She also left behind a hosts of cousins, nieces, nephews other family and friends to cherish her memory.
