ERNEST ROBERT WEST
Ernest Robert West was born on December 6, 1930 to the late Maggie White and Douglas West of Onancock, VA. He departed this life on October 5, 2019 at (Riverside Shore Health & Rehabilitation Center) Saber Health & Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, VA.
Ernest was affectionately known as “Pop-Pop” by his children and grandchildren. He was educated in the Accomack County Public Schools system and was employed by Paul Jones Lumber Company for over 50 years. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He usually attended the annual July family reunion with his sister Eula Johnson and family, and annual Christmas functions. Ernest was married to the late Burley Mae Allen and from this union they had 5 children. He had another daughter, Doris Church and he raised a step-daughter Ruby Glover. Anishka West was a devoted grand-daughter, who was there until the end.
Cherishing fond memories of Ernest are his seven children: Ruby Glover of Newark, DE, Doris (William) Church of Nassawadox, Va, Faith West of Bear, DE, Claudia and Fitzgerald West both of Pungoteague, VA, Everlinea (Ervin) Satchell of Exmore, VA, and Elaina West of Bear, DE; grandchildren: Chris (Angela) Matthews, Angela (Robert) Maddox, Tysheka, Sameka (Nathaniel) Bunting, Thomas, Anishka, Ashanti, Brandon, Shaquita, Joshua, Aaliyah, Anastasia, and Asia; sixteen great-grand-children; loving sister: Eula Johnson of Onancock, VA; two brothers: Erwin West of Horntown, VA and Wendell West of Daugherty, VA; two sister-in-laws: Mattie Sarah Savage and Mary Thomas, both of Sicklerville, NJ. He shared a special bond with his nieces and nephews, a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
