DORALENE A. ASHBY

So as you gaze around life will no longer be the same and do what you have to. To live so that the world will know my living wasn’t in vain. Doralene Alden Ashby fell asleep in death on Monday, November 12, 2018 at approximately 4:25PM at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock, VA. She was born in Harborton, VA on January 11, 1942 to the late Ruth and Burleigh Ashby.

Doralene was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witness in 1971 and enjoyed sharing Bible truths with those who listen. She enjoyed working in her yard and doing puzzles but most of all she loved sewing and doing all kinds of crafts. She instilled in her children the importance of hard work and being respectful to others. Her work history included Perdue Farms, Parksley Nursing Home (dietary), Rose’s (Dietary Manager) and the place that was home for her was Nandua Seafood Company, where she picked crabs with other family members.

Doralene loved her family to the fullest and leaves to cherish her memories: four children, Gale Walker and Frederick Ashby of Houston, TX, Kim A.Bright of Melfa, VA and Deborah A. Johnson of Exmore, VA, four grandchildren, Gecola Ashby of Hampton, VA, Colette Ashby of Littleton, NC, Bianca and Kaizer Johnson of Exmore, VA; four great-grandchildren, Da saar & Jaxyn Vincent of Hampton, VA, Ymania Bright and Zyrykkus White of Littleton, NC; four sisters, Gloriadine Ashby of Melfa, VA, Hazel Kellam of Wachapreague, VA, Charlotte Giddens of Norwalk, CT and Shirley Savage of Milford, CT; one brother, Larry Ashby (Juanita) of Melfa, VA, one special cousin and husband Marian Sample (Obdaiah), special friend Juile Harmon and her devoted beautician and family, Agnes Johnson, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, and several friends. She will be truly missed.
