DELORES V. WATERS

Delores Virginia Harmon Waters, 79, affectionately known as “Dusty” of Snow Hill, MD, received her “Heavenly Wings” in the early morning hours on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, MD. Born on October 30, 1938 in Snow Hill, MD, she was the daughter of Marie Harmon Foreman and the late Raymond Beckett.

Dusty was united in Holy Matrimony to Alexander (Mickey) Waters, Jr., on May 28, 1958. From this union, they were blessed with five children: Beverly, Lynnette, LaWanda (Jeanne), Alexander (Little Mickey) III and Barry. They also raised three grandchildren: Tyrone, Jonika and Rakim. Dusty and Mickey celebrated their “60th” wedding anniversary on May 28, 2018.

Dusty received her education in the Worcester County Public Schools. She started working at a very young age. She was employed in Food Service beginning her career at the Worcester County Detention Center as a cook where she retired in 2001 after 20 years of service.

Dusty’s Christian Journey began at a very early age at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Snow Hill, MD where she was a lifetime member. She was a member of the Children’s Choir, Youth Fellowship, Usher Board, Women’s Society of Christian Service Trustee Board and a devoted and faithful Communion Steward. Dusty took great pride in dressing the altar for worship service and wanted to make sure it was done properly; even during her illness she pressed her way through with the help of family members and friends to make sure the altar was properly dressed. She would dress the altar and sit on the front pew admiring her works making sure everything was even and in place. Dusty enjoyed watching Ask the Pastor, Westerns, Law and Order and her favorite shopping channel, the Home Shopping Network from which UPS deliveries were abundant. She also enjoyed and cherished photographs of family and friends; she was faithful to Olan Mills Studio until their business closed. Every year Dusty and Mickey would dress up along with their children and go to Olan Mills Studio for their yearly family portrait. Dusty was a lover of bells, collecting them from all states. Her souvenir request would be “Bring me back a bell”. Dusty was a loving and nurturing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, aunt and friend to many. She cared for every one of her grandchildren, introducing them all to coffee at an early age. Each one had his/her very own coffee cup which contained more milk than coffee. Because she was so devoted to and loved her family so much, one of her last requests for her family was “Please stay together, keep in contact with one another and call each other from time to time to check on each other”.

Dusty leaves to cherish loving memories, her husband of 60 years, Alexander “Mickey” Waters, Jr. of Snow Hill, MD; her mother, Marie Foreman of Wilmington, DE; two daughters, Beverly Mason of Snow Hill, MD and LaWanda “Jeanne” (Orlando) Blake of Salisbury, MD; two sons, Alexander “Little Mickey” (Antrice) Waters, III of Pocomoke City, MD and Barry (Shermita) Waters of Snow Hill, MD; one sister Ruth (Thomas) Jones of Wilmington, DE; two special sister cousins, Dorothy Townsend of Snow Hill, MD and Betty Pruitt of Salisbury, MD; one sister-in-law, Frances Ames of Snow Hill, MD; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She also leaves loving memories with her special friend Ira (Buck) Shockley of Snow Hill, MD.

Dusty was blessed beyond measure with her special and loving caretakers; Monica Miles, Beth Phillips, Bethany Waters (granddaughter), Dorothy Townsend (cousin), Regina Dale (cousin), and Orlando Blake (son-in-law).

Dusty was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Beckett, a daughter Lynette Waters-Pumphrey, grandsons Tyrone Waters, Sr. and Rakim Waters; paternal grandparents, Arthur and Beulah Harmon and maternal grandparents, Warner and Helen Beckett.
